Police have arrested a 39-year-old man from Bonner after he allegedly threatened witnesses scheduled to testify in an upcoming court case related to theft and assault.
ACT Policing said about 11.05am on June 3, 2026, the man facing theft and assault charges for an incident at a Gungahlin supermarket in July last year encountered three loss prevention officers at Gungahlin Marketplace.
Loss prevention officers investigate shoplifting, fraud and other offences committed in retail settings.
Police alleged the man approached the group and directed abusive language towards them.
It is also alleged he threatened the witnesses in relation to an upcoming court case and repeatedly attempted to provoke them into a confrontation.
Following a review of CCTV footage and witness statements, police arrested the Bonner man on Friday.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday, June 20, 2026, after being charged with two counts of threatening a witness, offensive behaviour and affray, police said.
