The boss is an AH, but there seems to be a lot of other things going on that we are not being told. Also, most companies only allow bereavement leave for close relatives because there are a lot of terrible people who would a***e it otherwise. I'm sure this was hard for the girlfriend, but he had only known him for about a year.
