Confrontation doesn't come easily to a lot of people. It's easier to not address it so she just doesn't also I wouldn't want her to know she hadn't actually reached my boss and spur her into finding a way to contact my manager.

Not sure which kind of insurance you mean but private health insurance isn't required for chemo or other mandatory medical treatment in Canada - it's covered by the government (yay for universal health care!) For the life insurance the way I read it evil stepdad planned to wait til mum died and take it all, mum was still able to make informed decisions, she changed the beneficiary to be her daughter, daughter got it all. Does that help?

Isn't it possible that the guy willingly went up the hotel room, they did it, he hurt her and THEN left? I can't tell from the post if the claim the guy hurt the friend came out of nowhere or the friend suddenly changed their mind mid story. OP wasn't there, so how can they be sure?

I had a former friend do this to their spouse. Turned out they had bipolar disorder and were in full blown mania. To be clear that DOES NOT justify cheating but it's a partial explanation (not an excuse). The decision making ability of people with BP when they're cycling is horrific.

When I told my mother her new bf was looking at me inappropriately when I was 12/13. She then decided to sit us all down together so he could tell me he wasn’t, while still staring at me the same creepy way. She ends up marrying him so he could get his green card. Then when I was 16 I would repeatedly come home from school and he would be on the couch in underwear with his privates hanging out. Told my mom and nothing happened. Moved out the moment I graduated and never looked back. She’s shocked now years later after they finally were able to divorce and she’s hearing stories of him being a creep to other younger women. Yea, go to hell mom.

For anyone interested OP added some comments... Apparently the MIL "dropped in" unannounced and tried to corner her but she kept directing MIL to her husband. MIL didn't like that and left after just 10 minutes. OP also says that growing up things were fine in her husband's family as long as you did what you were told, but when you didn't h*ll broke loose, so husband is very conflict averse. The husband later brought up to his parents that they want to change ownership of the house and OP said "of course that did not go well" so they're looking into how else they can manage that. I wish them luck but don't see this ending well. I'm betting the parents will decide not to give the "gift" and will force OP and husband to buy out their share of the house.

People who kick their kids out as soon as they legally can shouldn't have had kids. And OP claiming her daughter isn't "missing out" on the opportunity to go to school because she was forced to take out loans is hilarious. OP clearly doesn't understand that student loans take YEARS to pay off, c*****e your credit and mean can't afford your own place until long after school ends. But she expects her daughter to spend time with her because they're offering the bare minimum? What a joke.

I'm finding the misgendering comments a little confusing but honestly don't know if referring to him as "she" BEFORE they transitioned (as that's how OP knew them during the time they reference) would be offensive to the person who transitioned. As a child I competed dozens of times (up to nationally) and had one uncle attend *once*, and that's because the competition was in his town. My dad made it three time in 5 years. Expecting extended family to drive 4 hours to wait around all day is nuts.

Nothing wrong with ethical nonmonogamy IF both partners agree wholeheartedly and commit to being fair and honest, but that's NOT what's happening here. The husband manipulated OP into an open marriage she didn't want and now that he's realized it goes both ways he's begging to close it again. I've read far too many of these to hope it'll end well. Better that she leave her partner now than stay in an unhealthy marriage that shows her children it's ok to disrespect your partner.
