On C-Span… very entertaining

I wish we had something analogous here.

SNP … sounds like English is a second language

Also all whiners

England should just cut off excess funding

Evidently the NHS is a dumpster fire
.

Scary thing is it is better than Canada. At least there is a private option. Although the Canadian one is an hour or two over the border.

Conservative gov’t in Britain are CINOs. And their socialists are crazy too. Latest I read about Britain was the gov’t proposing some workers rights bill for workers to work from home. Just another reason for a viable business to locate elsewhere. In Canada federal civil servants are up in arms because they are going to be required to actually leave their homes to work 2-3 days a week.

Bring back Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair. And Jean Cretien and Stephen Harper.

Firstly, i like PMQs.

i do think it can distort the job requirements disproportionally though. Being able to “perform” well at PMQ (or not) doesn’t necessarily make someone a good leader of the government and country…just a good leader of the debating society…

on the NHS…i spent 32 years in the UK (and never had private health insurance while there) and have spent 25 years in the US. i even worked in a NHS hospital when i was training to be a pharmacist. There has never been one moment in my 25 years under the US system that i wouldn’t swap for the NHS.

it is great to watch, especially the performative hooting

as for NHS, right now it is a sh*tshow. Nurses on strike, ambulance drivers on strike, beds as tight as ever. And a load of Brexit “savings” never materialised, shocker.

I’ve had major ops on both private and NHS dime, and the public system absolutely comes through on quality of surgery, surgical facilities (wards a different story) and aftercare.

and the total spend for NHS England is about 153 billion …so about $180 billion dollars for 56 million people; close to $3000 per person, all in. We pay double that for health insurance premiums and have all the copays on top.

UK public health is economical. Maybe NZ the only one that spends less. Pretty remarkable to NZ given sparse population. The US is almost three times per capita spending.

For reference this NHS was only mentioned by me because the opposition parties kept bringing it up repeatedly

I’d like the President to have to get up and be forced to answer questions like this.

Can you imagine the tantrum Trump would have thrown? The bumbling of Biden? The cool subtle fuck you from Obama?

Valid but it also puts them on the spot and requires them to defend themselves and policies while also allowing the people’s representatives to ask about something important to then

Award yourself points.

That’s verboten

i like the concept but i think a US version would be a media driven grandstanding mess.

if we have anything like PMQ here i would also like the tradition of resignation from office if found to have knowingly lied/misled the house to also be adopted; so whoever is asking or answering questions cannot spout things known to be BS…in fact i think the house and senate would be better if that was the expectation even without PMQ.

There is only one possible solution to this mess:
